DirectorParkersburg, West Virginia native Jerry Wood serves as director of the West Virginia University Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs. Jerry is a 1993 graduate of the WVU Army ROTC Battalion and served more than 30 years of active duty in the United States Army, enlisting in 1984 as a musician and retiring in 2017 as a human resources officer.
Associate Director and Program CoordinatorPenny has been employed at West Virginia University since 2014. She has worked as a lead academic adviser, instructor and program coordinator for the Center for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS). Currently, she serves as an associate director and academic program coordinator in the Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs at WVU.
Certifying OfficialSherry is a native of Morgantown, West Virginia. She has been employed at WVU for 20 years, but joined the Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs five years ago as a veteran certifying official. In this role, she assists with and certifies education benefits for student veterans, their spouses or dependents and survivor’s students who receive VA Education benefits.
Jeff is a native of Elkins, West Virginia and a 2010 graduate of West Virginia University. Jeff enlisted in the West Virginia Army National Guard while in high school. During his military career, he served in multiple Military Police units throughout the state, held various leadership positions, and deployed multiple times. He retired in 2021 with over 20 years of service.
